IPv6 Subnet Planner & SLA Prefix Hierarchy Architect
Subdivide global IPv6 unicast blocks (/32, /48, /56) into standard /64 interface subnets. Map site-level SLA hexadecimal boundaries, examine nibble bit alignments, and generate deployment subnet tables.
IPv6 Address Allocation & Hierarchy (RFC 4291)
IPv6 addresses consist of 128 bits expressed as 8 groups of 4 hexadecimal digits. Standard enterprise allocations divide the address space into predictable boundaries.
Recommended Prefix Boundaries
- /32 Prefix: Standard RIR allocation for Internet Service Providers (ISPs).
- /48 Prefix: Standard enterprise site allocation providing 65,536 /64 subnets.
- /56 Prefix: Standard small business or residential allocation providing 256 /64 subnets.
- /64 Prefix: Standard single LAN subnet size mandatory for SLAAC stateless autoconfiguration.
